It sings to the sleepers, fly away from your suburban house and your suburban life. Your unfinished basement and yard full of weeds will not miss you, and you are here, in the center of things. A day’s ride will see you at the coast of the ocean, deep in the mountains, baking in the deserts. Sword of Yggdrasil, Chapter 7Time stood still for Jeremy and Alicia as they clung to each other, trapped on the tree. The rain poured down, suddenly making even the wide branches treacherously slippery. The day had gone from summer skies to a sullen, never-ending blackness, as if night had fallen early. The winds were intense, making even the giant trees sway and moan. Lightning raced across the sky, striking some of the trees and starting fires that burned fiercely until the rain put them back out. Each time their tree swayed viciously back and forth like a whip in the high winds Alicia screamed. Sword of Yggdrasil, Chapter 6Alicia woke up with the afternoon sun shining on her face. She couldn’t remember falling asleep, but the bed she was in was soft and there was a pleasantly cool pressure on her head. There didn’t seem to be any pressing need to get up and it was only until she noticed that the room seemed to be gently swaying did she open her eyes. She was in a small cabin, and the light from the porthole showed the shoreline far off in the distance. The floor was covered in a variety of colorful rugs heaped on top of each other, and the walls of the cabin were filled with paintings and tapestries, all crammed together on the available wall space.
